A Time to Tear Down or A Time to Build

For everything there is a season and a time for every matter under heaven.
— Ecclesiastes 3:1

The writer of Ecclesiastes goes on to say that there is a time to build and there is a time to tear down. When it comes to anything; buildings, organizations or relationships, it matters how you build and it also matters how you tear down

People easily understand wanting to build and move forward, but are often reticent when it comes to the reverse process.

Tearing down can be necessary for several reasons:

when something has been built on an improper foundation

when it is time to expand

when the existing structure has deteriorated or is unfit to serve its intended purpose

Whichever season someone is in- needing insight to build forward or perspective while working through obstacles, pain or hurt, it means they must come with ears ready to hear and eyes ready to see.

We do not offer a ready-made rule book or 10-step solution manual for any situation. We ask questions. We encourage people to ask questions. We trust that with open hearts we will all recognize Truth when it shows up in the room.

Whether the impasse indicates a need for a ‘controlled demolition process’ where together we meticulously deconstruct and tear down the ineffective or limiting structures in the situation or relationship- or the immediate need is to move forward with wisdom, this is what Bridges To Destiny offers:

Conflict assessment    Conflict resolution    Marriage enrichment

Pastoral care    Spiritual direction    Discipleship

Biblical instruction

*Dawn and Phil are a team.  If one of us is with you or both of us are there, you always get the benefit of the over 47 years that two people have prayed together, served God together and learned from each other.

This is how we work:

  1. We schedule open-ended sessions so that people will never feel rushed.

  2. We know that crisis, life’s dramas and the need for understanding doesn’t happen on a time clock, therefore we maintain a flexible availability to accommodate people’s differing schedules.

  3. You can come to us.

  4. We can come to you- we make house calls.

  5. If neither you nor we want to stay at home- we can meet you in a neutral location.

  6. If neither you nor we want to leave home- we can use remote access through video calls.

  7. You live in another time zone- definitely video.

  8. When you only want to be heard and not seen- a good, old-fashioned phone call works.
